"Un bel morir tutta la vita onora..." o no: formas de morir de los intelectuales de la Grecia antigua en la tradición biográfica
Resumen
Las escenas de los últimos instantes de la vida, a menudo acompañadas de anécdotas jugosas y frases memorables, no suelen faltar en las biografías de los intelectuales ―si se me permite el anacronismo― ya desde la Grecia antigua. Sin embargo, las formas de morir de estos personajes presentan poca variedad, con rasgos bastante bien definidos, que se basan, plausiblemente, en los ejercicios de las escuelas de retórica, y que, además, resultan abiertamente simbólicos: lo que determina la forma de muerte y su valor social, para bien o para mal, es la vida que el intelectual ha llevado, el género literario que ha cultivado principalmente o el tipo de doctrinas que ha profesado.
